We are only one week away from the FSIM Annual Meeting and our 2017 New Year celebration with all of you! Linda Mealey Lohmann is our featured speaker and will bring you information you need to know about the Fire Rooster, Chinese Zodiac and Chinese New Year Traditions. This is a great way to emphasize Feng Shui as you bring in the New Chinese Year of the Fire Rooster. The Lion Dance starts at 7pm. We hope you can make it to this celebraton at the Marsh.
Important Update on Membership: Bonus! The FSIM Board has decided to change the annual renewal date to March of every year starting in March of 2018. This means if you renew this year, your membership renewal is good for 15 months or until March of 2018 in addition to two annual meetings-2017 and 2018. We hope you can take advantage of this extended membership from January of 2017 to March of 2018!
There are some opportunities for Feng Shui Education with Barbara Bobrowitz and Kim Julen upcoming in January and February. Get started on your continuing education credits early.

FSIM Board is happy to announce Membership Renewal will change to March starting in 2018. This means for the year 2017-2018 the fees cover 15 months of membership and the Annual Meeting for 2017 and 2018.

2017 Annual Meeting Speaker FSIM is excited for our Annual Meeting and The Year of the Rooster. Our speaker this year is Linda Mealey Lohmann.
Title of Presentation: "Celebrating 2017 - The Year of the Fire Rooster"
Description: "An interactive presentation about the characteristics of this year's Fire Rooster and the Chinese Animal Zodiac, Chinese New Year Traditions (Rituals, Food, and Song). You'll even learn some useful Chinese phrases!"
Linda Mealey-Lohmann is Co-Founder and President of the Minnesota China Friendship Garden Society and Vice President of US-China Peoples Friendship Association-MN. She is a former employment law lawyer, who now works as a mediator and arbitrator (Mealey-Lohmann Mediation & Dispute Resolution), helping parties resolve commercial and employment law disputes. She is an avid gardener and has a deep interest in China and China Gardens. She has taught Chinese language and culture to all ages, from preschool to college to senior citizens. She holds an undergraduate degree in East Asian Studies, a Master's Degree in Chinese Language and Literature, and speaks Mandarin Chinese. She has traveled to China 22 times over more than thirty years and lived / studied in Taiwan for six months and lived in Tianjin, China, for two summers as Assistant Director of the U of M Chinese language program at Nankai University. Her last trip was to Changsha (St. Paul's sister-city) with St. Paul Mayor Coleman's delegation, where a sister-park agreement was signed with St. Paul Phalen Regional Park and Changsha Wetlands Park. She manages the day-to-day operations of the China Garden Society's current project to build the St. Paul-Changsha China Friendship Garden at Phalen Regional Park. This is a collaboration with the City of St. Paul, St. Paul Parks & Rec, Changsha's Yanghu Wetlands Park, and the Changsha People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. The goal is to promote friendship and understanding between the peoples of China and Minnesota.

Feng Shui principles and solutions put us in direct, conscious connection with the spirit of the places we live and work to invite abundance and peace in all aspects of our lives. Learn the basic principles of Feng Shui, including use and placement of the Bagua, power areas and key rules of placement, and the importance of your front door, bed, desk, and stove. As you see Feng Shui in action, you'll learn many easy adjustments. We will work in groups to apply Feng Shui to our lives. Bring one red envelope, your floor plan including attached garage with the length and width measurements, and a lunch.
