Recap of FSIM's Fall Equinox meeting with
guest speaker, Ellen Schneider.
by FSIM Board Member, Sonia Ellis
What a wonderful way to celebrate the Fall Equinox this year with our guest speaker, Ellen Schneider, owner of Arrange to Succeed, on Thursday, September 22nd. Over 20 people joined the call, actively listening and discussing general issues Feng Shui consultants face at appointments and with their businesses.
Ellen shared great tips with us by asking us to reflect on key questions such as what was our mastery? What were we known for in the Feng Shui world? We discussed different techniques for appointments, when to stop and listen to the client, when to limit the “too much” information we generally tend to offer! How to speak “their” language so they don’t blank out and get lost in all that information. Ellen uses three code words when walking into an appointment: Kind, Beautiful and Generous. She encouraged us to come up with our own code words as well.
Ellen also shared with us her Bagua Life and/or Business Plan technique which is very easy to apply to oneself or to our clients. This technique can be used in any situation, be it a space, an issue, or a project. By asking two simple questions one can create a plan to move forward.
The questions we need to ask ourselves in each of the guas are:
1. What do I know?
2. What do I need to learn?
Starting in Health, then moving to Wealth one moves through the Bagua in a clockwise manner, next would come Fame & Reputation, Partnership, Children and Creativity, Helpful People, Career, Knowledge and finally Family. You can either walk through the house physically moving into each gua and asking those two questions or you can do it mentally/visually. Taking notes of the your responses to each question you can lay out a roadmap so as to help you with the matter at hand. Ellen emphasized that it was important to have our own element (or that of the client’s) represented in each of the guas so as to support us/them during the process. I know I will certainly try this out in my home soon!
Thank you, Ellen, for sharing your expertise and knowledge with us, it was a pleasure to have you as our guest speaker!
