We are please to have Amy Theisen and Carole Hyder both presenting at our 2024 Annual meeting!
Amy will share information about Qi Men Dun Jia, specifically the Guardians of Destinyand how they play a role in our lives. She will share the visiting Guardian for each person in 2024 and how to connect with it or what it can be adding to their lives for the year.
A BIT OF HISTORY: Qi Men Dun Jia is translated as Mystical Doors Escaping Technique. It is one of the Three Sacred Methods dating back to the Yellow Emperor period, 5,000 years ago. It is considered the only method of the 3 highly relevant in the modern context. It shares a common base as all other aspects of Chinese Metaphysics as it is rooted in the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches and has the He Tu, Luo Shu, the Yin and Yang, Five elements, 9 Palaces, the 9 Stars, the Eight Directions, and the constellations as its basic principles. It combines both the energy computation normally associated with Feng Shui and the astronomical calculations related to BaZi.
The story goes that the 10 Guardians in Qi Men have unique forms, identities, associations, and powers. Each governing different aspects of our worlds in different measures. They are referenced as divine beings, used to represent forces governing the Spirit Realm.
When you register for the event, your registration confirmation will request that you email Amy with your birthdate and time (year, month, day, hour) and she will email you a pdf of your Natal Qi Men Chart. During her presentation, Amy will share how to find your personal Guardian of Destiny and the location it “resides,” as well as how to connect with them.
And Carole Hyder will again present on the energy of the upcoming year - The Year of the Wood Dragon, which we always look forward to!

FSIM Field Trip: Caring for Cats Shelter Tour Recap by Mary Conley, FSIM Board Member
Carole Hyder and Betsy Clark (Operations Manager) shared the history of Caring for Cats and provided a tour of the shelter. Carole also shared the various Feng Shui adjustments that were made to the building (noted below).
In 2024, the shelter will be celebrating its 25th year. For 20 years, it has been supported by volunteers. They are currently in their 3rd location which is located at 2550 7th Ave E., North St. Paul. Three years ago, Candis Christensen generously donated her estate to Caring for Cats, providing the organization the opportunity to purchase their current building and completely renovate it.
When the building was gutted, Carole suggested a ceremony that involved everyone participating to write their intentions on the walls. The wealth and fame/reputation had specific intentions written in these areas. The walls were later painted. A few intentions are still visible on the walls in the basement. The day of the ceremony, Annette Rugolo doused the building thoroughly. She identified a positive vortex near the front door, indicative of the good will and connection the previous owners had with the community (17 years at the location).
Other adjustments were made during the construction of the building. Working with the contractor, Carole had two red envelopes placed in the walls at the front entrance area (one envelope with coins for abundance and one with a boat in it). At the back door, there was a corner pointing at the door causing a poison arrow. Carole requested the contractor round that corner, which he did as well as all of the other corners in the hallway.
In addition, Carole marked the center of the hallway to anchor the building with her intention. She also marked the center of the building, making an intention here as well. Carole did a Flying Star chart for the building (built 1946/Period 5). With the mountain star in the back and the river at the front (street), it sets up the chi nicely so there were no actions needed.
The interior design and paint colors were very intentional and thoughtful. Placing internal windows between rooms and to the outside as well as using white and colored paint colors specific to the rooms create an open and uplifting space. The space feels open yet grounded - awesome facility.
The organization has over 100 volunteers, who support all aspects of the organization. Their capacity is at 30-38 cats. People interested in adopting cats are thoroughly interviewed and viewed as they interact with the cats to ensure there is a good fit with the cat. There is a partnership with TLC Hospital and Dr. Swanson for veterinary care. They adopt out between 150 and 200 cats per year and have a 95% adoption rate. They are not open to the public, but rather an appointment is required. It is a wonderful organization as they care for the cats as if they were their own! |

Even if you aren't a Practitioner, the Friend Membership is a great deal, as the $72 fee covers the annual meeting and each of the quarterly meetings for one year (from the date of your membership); you would otherwise pay $81 to pay separately for each meeting.
