When fall comes, we breathe a little easier, find being outside a breath of fresh air in the warm sunshine, and change our focus. What is motivating you this season? Are you ready for fall foods, hikes in the woods, or going to a local class?
The Board of FSIM is very excited about our Special Fall Event, the Hindu Temple Tour on October 1, only two weeks away!! This is the largest Hindu Temple in the United States.The Temple was created using Hindu principles used in establishing
the location and timing of building the Temple. Don't miss out on this special event
that includes the option of yoga at the Temple, followed by a tour and then
lunch with members.
FSIM is honored to have our own FSIM Member and Practitioner Kanika Babal
 guide our tour at the Hindu Temple on October 1. Kanika has an in-depth knowledge of the Indian Gods, Hindu Vedas and the Indian cultural heritage. Kanika was born and raised in India and came to the United States consequent to her marriage. She and her husband have two girls. Kanika graduated from the Wind and Water School of Feng Shui with Carole Hyder in 2012 and
practices Feng Shui in both business and residential settings. Don't miss this tour or opportunity to meet Kanika and learn more about the Temple and the Indian heritage!

FSIM is excited for our Special Fall Field Trip to the Hindu Temple located in Maple Grove, MN.

8:00am - 9:30am free yoga (all levels welcome)
FSIM is covering the donation for members
9:30 - 10:30 tour Shoes will need to be removed for going upstairs to the temple. You can have socks on but no shoes. Wearing yoga clothes is fine for the tour.
11:00 - 12:30 Brunch - location TBD

If you are not going to yoga, please arrive at 9:20am at the Temple for the tour.
Please wear comfortable clothing for yoga. Bring your own yoga mat if you have one. There are a few extra mats if you don't have one.
Presenter: FSIM member Kanika Babal will be giving the tour of the Hindu Temple.
The Hindu Temple:
This is the largest Hindu Temple in the United States. In the early 1970's a group of locals established a formal society whose purpose would be to celebrate the richness of the Hindu faith, customs and traditions of Minnesota's Hindu community. From this concept, the Hindu Society of Minnesota was established. An old church in Minneapolis served as the first place of worship. Fast forward to 1998 when Asha & Mahendra Nath, Kumud & Shashikant Kane and Kusum & Krishna Saxena purchased an ideally situated 80 acres in Maple Grove for this 43,000 square foot Hindu Temple. Hindu principles, similar to that of Feng Shui were used for it's location.

With a heavy heart we announce that Lisa Rock has lost her husband and companion, Michael Joseph "Rocky" Rock. Lisa is a member of FSIM and former Board Member for many years. Rocky was born in England and spent summers in Ireland where his parents were born. Lisa and Rocky have one son, Eddie. Eddie and his wife, Lisa, have two children, Theo, 2, and Cecelia, born this past August. Rocky was a faithful support to Lisa during her illnesses. He worked for multiple non-profit agencies and retired from a long career at the JFCS, the Jewish Family and Children's Services of Minneapolis. Rocky supported Mancester United and was a lover of reading and The Minnesota Arboretum and walking around Lake Harriet. Lisa and Rocky took a three-week trip to Ireland in 2015 which culminated in the couple summiting Croagh Patrick Mountain. Per Rocky's wishes, a proper Irish send-off is scheduled for Saturday, October 29th from 5:00-11:00 pm at Centennial Lakes Park Hughes Pavilion (7499 France Ave. S., Edina, MN). Donations can be made to Rocky's favorite causes, JFCS (Jewish Family and Children's Services of Minneapolis) and the Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance. TWINS!! Jane and Ron Petrich have healthy twin grandchildren in their lives now!
Their son-in-law and daughter Jodi gave birth to Timothy William and Jane Nina on September 14th. What a blessing for everyone!!

Welcome New FSIM Board Member
FSIM Board Member Ellen Johnson
Please welcome Ellen to the FSIM Board. Ellen will hold the position of Treasurer. Ellen has worked for 25+ years in the financial services industry and will be a great addition to the FSIM Board.
Ellen graduated from the Wind and Water School of Feng Shui In June of 2009, and has been an active Member of FSIM ever since. Ellen loves the community that FSIM offers and is interested in creating more opportunities for members to be involved, including possible volunteer opportunities for our organization.
In addition to Feng Shui, Ellen was certified as a yoga instructor in 2012, and although she is not currently teaching any classes, she still enjoys taking classes with her husband. She is also a certified Sacred Money Archetypes® coach and enjoys helping people understand their soul-level money patterns and how they can move forward by utilizing their strengths.
