June 2019

Rebooting Your Year

We are almost ½ way through 2019 and this is a good time to ask yourself if the year is shaping up to be what you envisioned! More money, less stress. More romance, less conflict. More career advancement, less health worries. Regardless of how your year is going, July is a wonderful time to revisit and revamp the goals that you wrote at the beginning of the year!

In Julie Ann's class, Designing Your Home and Life with Vision Boards, she will help you write goals to figure out what you want more of and what you want less of in your life. She will also guide you to go deeper into discovery about how you think about your home; what it feels and looks like. Even as Feng Shui experts, we sometimes don't take the time to re-evaluate our own spaces. This is a good opportunity to focus on you!

What is a vision board? A vision board is surface to display images on that represent what you want for your life. It's one of the many tools that can help you to visualize your intentions and get you into the right frame of mind to achieve them. Vision boards can include images, drawings, photographs or words.
With your Vision Board and your fresh Feng Shui design perspective, you can align your space with what you truly desire. It can really make a difference!

*  Supply Fee of $12.00 for all participants is due the night of the class and payable directly to Julie Ann Segal. This is no ordinary Vision Board class - get ready to bring your intentions to life with Julie Ann's creativity, quality materials and your vision. Participants are asked to bring 3 or more magazines to share with class.

Summer Solstice Celebration and Bonfire
Hosted by Debbie Miller

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
The next FSIM C3 Circle will be held on Friday, June 21st at 7:00 pm

We are reaching Midsummer, when the days are longer than the nights. It is a time of celebrating the fullness of life and of taking the time to raise our energy to regenerate abundance and manifest our dreams.

How can we do this? Celebrate the outer and inner light with a summer BONFIRE!

Solstice comes from the Latin word sol, meaning Sun and sistere, meaning to come to a stop or stand still. On the day of the June solstice, the Sun reaches its northernmost position, as seen from the Earth. At that moment, its course does not move north or south as during most other days of the year, but it stands still at the Tropic of Cancer. It then reverses its direction and starts moving south again.

Don't forget to bring your red envelopes or letters from your clients for the fire. There will also be an opportunity to write down your intentions and release it in the fire.

There will be drumming, s'mores and more!
Bring your own chair, beverage and a snack to share with the group. If you have a drum or a rattle - you are welcome to bring it.

Don't miss the drum making class offered especially for our FSIM members on June 9th or September 8th. There is more information below.

*There is no rain date as of yet. If the weather is bad - watch the Facebook site for updates.

Register HERE for the C3 Summer Solstice event. (Address and Details to follow with registration).

Spotlight on Kathy Bartle Hedstrom, CMP

Kathy Bartle Hedstrom, CMP

My position on the Board of Directors:
Director, Member at Large

Iowa born, we moved to the Twin Cities when my father transferred to work with
the Great Northern Railroad.

I attended the Universities of St Catherine's and St Thomas, graduating with
degrees in Home Economics and Chemistry. During my 30-year career, I worked
for large natural gas utility. My responsibilities were customer-focused, I
directed our staff of Home Economists, who were responsible for educational programming
and materials, with an emphasis on energy use, safety, appliances and conservation.
I became a State Energy Auditor, as well. The last 15 years of my utility career, I
managed the company's involvement in national/international events, like the
International Special Olympics, US Open, US Olympic Festival, Super Bowl, Ryder
Cup etc.

Following retirement, I pursued a psychology masters which led me to a
ten-year clinical Hypnotherapy practice. In the midst of all of this busyness and
raising my family, I started the beloved journey into energy work and Feng Shui.

During a fateful visit to a tarot card reader, I decided to check out his extensive
library. All of a sudden... one of his books jumped off the shelf and into my hands,
the title... Feng Shui for Beginners! Within a week, I noticed a Feng Shui preview
course offered by Community Education! And, yes, of course, the class was
taught by ...Carole Hyder! The rest is history, I earned my Certification with Wind
and Water, studied at the Golden Gate School of Feng Shui in San Francisco and
Compass School with Roger Green. I have always loved design and fell in love with
Feng Shui. My greatest joy has been meeting and working with the many
fascinating people that share my affection for this healing modality!

I am married and have one son. John Robert and his wife Paige, Doctors of
Physical Therapy, live in Fort Collins, Colorado with our Grand Puppy
Kirby Pucket Jr # 34! Both my husband and I continue to work as consultants; we
also have an Energy healing practice. I love to travel, ride, ski and spend time in
the amazing Colorado mountains.

Your Help Is Needed...
FSIM Volunteering At Bridging!

Dear FSIM Members, Friends & Guests,

All are Invited! Fulfilling part of our mission to participate in community outreach projects, we are happy to offer our Feng Shui family an afternoon of giving back by volunteering at Bridging. We promise this will be a day that expands your heart and gives inspiration for doing good deeds. As our teacher, His Holiness Grandmaster Thomas Lin Yun said, "One good deed a day, erases all Karma."

What is Bridging?Bridging
Through the effective reuse of donated items, Bridging improves lives by providing quality furniture and household goods to those transitioning out of homelessness and poverty. Bridging serves over 80 households each week who are given a sense of dignity and stability as they rebuild their lives.

Look at our story, meet the clients who benefit from our program and see the place.

Bridging

When and where is the project?
Date:               Thursday, August 15, 2019
Time:               1:00 pm - 4:00 pm, beginning with a brief program tour
Group Size:     10 - 20 volunteers
Parking:
Parking is available in the lot on the west side of the building. Enter the parking lot by the Fran Heitzman Commons sign. We'll meet in the lobby which is just inside the main entrance door. We suggest leaving valuables tucked away in your vehicle.

What will I be doing?
  • You will be providing general warehouse assistance: loading and unloading trucks, sorting through donated goods, rolling linens and restocking shelves. (A variety of tasks are available, heavy lifting is NOT a requirement and tasks are based on your abilities. There is something to do for everyone with a willingness to help be of service.)
  • Specific projects will be determined on the day of your event based on final group size, inventory and warehouse priorities.
  • Note: All volunteers must be 14 or older.
What should i wear?

We're looking forward to a great time volunteering together!

Special Announcement and Opportunity:

We are excited to announce that FSIM's 20th Anniversary Annual Meeting will be held at The Marsh on Thursday, January 9, 2020. Our keynote speaker that evening will be Jaime Meyer of Drumming the Soul Awake. We will be inviting anyone that has their own drum to bring it to the event.

In anticipation of the 20th Anniversary event, FSIM has scheduled a Drum Making workshop, with renowned drum maker, Wayne Manthey. So, if you have ever dreamed of having AND making your own drum, this is your chance! In the workshop, Wayne will walk attendees through the steps to make their own drum. He will provide the wooden frame, deer hide, stain, etc.; you'll want to bring a small rock or other smooth object - one that could fit easily into the palm of your hand - that can go inside the drum handle.

You can choose to make a 13" or 16" drum. The 13" drum will generally have a somewhat higher tone; the 16" drum will generally have a lower tone (but not always). Many people choose the larger drum, but either one will be amazing!

Workshop is:

Pick a Drum:
13" Drum $126.00
16" Drum $162.00

Both workshops will take place at Wayne's workshop located at: 887 Smith Ave. S., West St. Paul, MN 55118.

You will want to sign up ASAP, as each workshop is limited to eight participants. Because of the small class size, we are limiting these workshops to FSIM Practitioners and Friend Members only (unless we have additional space prior to the workshops.) If there is significant interest, we may set up additional workshops.

If you have questions about the process, please see Wayne's website at: WayneMantheyDrumMaker.com

Practical Mysticism is a new paradigm that is beginning to shape the consciousness of spiritually-minded people. It is an approach to the spiritual journey that involves developing a mystical connection to the soul, while at the same time remaining grounded, mentally focused, and outwardly effective in daily life. In this presentation, William Meader will examine Practical Mysticism from several perspectives, including the importance of blending love and will, creative meditation, and how to use the mind to properly register the soul's intuitions.

William Meader is an international teacher of The Esoteric Philosophy (Ageless Wisdom). He presents a variety of esoteric topics to audiences in Europe, the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. He has authored 'Shine Forth: The Soul's Magical Destiny' and numerous articles
