Message from our President

This year's Feng Shui Institute of the Midwest's 2020 Annual Meeting should be special and memorable for many reasons. This event is always the pinnacle of our FSIM schedule as we kick off another exciting year of meetings and special events! Our Keynote speaker is Jaime Meyer. Jaime is a shamanic practitioner and healer. Since 2001 he has led popular drumming and ceremonial events around the Twin Cities. I have attended Jaime's Winter Solstice events and know this will be a powerful and moving experience. Make sure to bring your drum, rattle, or percussion instrument!

We will also be getting the Chinese New Year's astrological overview form Carole Hyder. This next year is the Year of the Metal Rat. Since this is my astrological year (I am a Metal Rat), I am anxious to hear about it and what I can look forward to. The Wind and Water Center will have more information available about the Metal Rat Year and the adjustments we need to make to prepare.
This is also the 20th Anniversary of the Feng Shui Institute of the Midwest. To celebrate this milestone, we have created a new logo for the year! The year's schedule of activities is finished and promises to be both fun and educational. Make sure to check out all the activities on our website.

We have invited all the past presidents back to participate in this 20th Anniversary Annual Meeting's festivities. They will be sharing some information about the origin of FSIM as well as some of their favorite memories.

Please come celebrate and reminisce with old (and new) friends on January 9, 2020! Use the link below to reserve your spot. I am looking forward to seeing you there! Many blessings to you all in the Year of the Metal Rat!

Deborah Miller, President FSIM

Part Theater Performance, Part Shamanic Ceremony!

Friday, December 20,
Saturday, December 21
Sunday, December 22

Location: The  Minnesota Opera Center

Jaime Meyers, the FSIM 2020 Annual Meeting Keynote Speaker, will guide you to open your ancient connection to the Great Mystery as you hear the chorus of singers chant shamanic songs inspired by Celtic and Nordic tradition, and powerful mythic stories that teach us how to reconnect with our soul power in these confusing times.

You'll be inside the thunder of 100+ drummers (and be one of them, because everyone drums - bring your own, or come early and borrow one).

Celebrate the 20th Anniversary on January 9, 2020 Guest Speaker is Jaime Meyer!!

His topic is:

The Most Important Question
You Can Ask About Purpose

Because I'm a theology geek, I think a lot about the term teleology: the study of the purpose of everything. What is the purpose of the universe? Where is the universe going? I'm in the universe, so wherever it's going, I'm going too.

In Celtic shamanic tradition there are three core questions you ask a traveler on the road: Where are you from? Where are you going? What's the purpose of your journey? And there's a fourth question: Who are your people?

There's a link between those two paragraphs, and it comes in the form of Albert Einstein's famous quote: "The most important question you can ever ask is if the world is a friendly place." This is a teleological question, and working a spiritual path begins with wrangling with that "most important" question, and answering it honestly for yourself.

Come to our FSIM Annual Meeting and explore more with Jaime! You can read more about this topic on Jaime's website.Drumming the Soul Awake.

Here is a littile information about Jaime:

Jaime Meyer's eclectic background includes earning a Masters' Degree in Theology and the Arts from United Seminary of the Twin Cities (1998) and studies with a variety of shamanic teachers since 1983. His book "Drumming The Soul Awake" is an often funny and touching account of his journey to become an urban shamanic practitioner. Since 2001 he has led popular drumming and ceremonial events around the Twin Cities including Winter Solstice ceremonies attended by hundreds of people each year.
