FSIM celebrated 20 years and what a celebration it was! Over 50 people attended the event, some traveled great distances to come. As our president, Debbie Miller stated in the December newsletter, "The annual meeting will be special and memorable for so many reasons."
Here were some of the highlights....
We began the evening ringing in with our intentions for the year, socializing and eating delicious appetizers while photos from the past 20 years were displayed on the large screen.
A new logo (the logo above) for the year was highlighted. Past presidents participated in the program. Hinda Abrahamson started the meeting off by leading us in a meaningful mediation which she wrote and we still use before every FSIM meeting. Andrew Hong and Carole Hyder shared their collaborative effort and origin of FSIM with much humor. Then Carole shared information on the Year of the Metal Rat. The Metal Rat has many friends and it will be a good year for most. Followed by the keynote speaker, Jaime Meyer.
Jaime led the group with drumming, singing and speaking about the most important question you can ask about purpose. Jaime spoke on "purpose" through a Celtic story revealing that even if we do not know we are readying ourselves for our purpose, we are meant to follow our path, which is leading to our purpose in life. We don't need to know what that purpose is, but know that whatever we are doing it is preparing us for the next step in our evolution.
Jaime shared a story about trees and fungus, which is about how we contribute to the whole of the world. Everything is inter-related and we all contribute to the building of the "whole." An analogy would be that everyone is dependent on everyone else. Our energy is shared and we need to find a balance.
Debbie Miller spoke about all the events that were held in 2019 and what new events the FSIM board has planned for 2020. It is sure to be another busy year. Remember to check the newsletters, the website and social media to see what is happening this year so you won't miss any event.
We closed the meeting with former president, Elaine Anderson leading us in an exercise of connection. Forming a large circle around the room, Elaine began with a wave of hand gestures, thunderous clapping and other movements and completed with hands raised to close the ceremony.
As an added treat, many stayed to enjoy cupcakes decorated in the 5 elements and continued to visit. It was a magical evening!
Blessings to all in 2020
